Sonic Frontiers has become the best-selling 3D Sonic game after shifting over 3.5 million copies...
has sold over 3.5 million copies since its launch on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One in November, Sega has announced, meaning Sonic Heroes' 20-year run as the top-selling 3D Sonic game has come to an end.As revealed by Sega of Japan when discussing the company's acquisition of Angry Birds developer Rovio Entertainment, Sonic Frontiers has sold more than 3.5 million copies.
, Sega hasn't disclosed any Sonic Heroes sales figures since 2007, so any figure since then would be guesswork.last month, adding a photo mode, a jukebox filled with Sonic tracks, and a number of challenge modes. At the time of release, the team said:"This is just the beginning. There will be two additional free content updates for Sonic Frontiers coming later this year!"
As for the 2D offerings, the first Sonic game had reportedly sold around 24 million copies by 2016 and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has shipped around 6 million copies.
