I've been using these earphones regularly since December 2023 and they are now at their lowest Irish price yet
I never got the opportunity to test out Sony’s excellent WF-1000XM5 true wireless earbuds when they were launched last summer.
Inside they feature a larger 8.4mm audio driver, Sony’s DSEE Extreme processing and 360 Reality Audio support. Android users can also enjoy higher quality audio streams from the likes of Qobuz and Tidal at up to 990kbps thanks to Sony’s LDAC Bluetooth codec. The transparency mode is decent, but still not at the level of the Transparency kinds, AirPods Pro 2. You can tap and hold one of the earbuds to temporarily allow the outside world in, incidentally, which is an extra that comes in handy when listening out for announcements, for example.Sony WF1000XM5 other features You also get multi-device connectivity, Speak-to-Chat and reliable on-bud touch controls for playback, volume and sound modes.
Battery life is superb at eight hours from a single charge with both Bluetooth and ANC enabled, with the charging case providing another 16 hours of juice. A full recharge the buds and the charging case is about two hours. The case supports wireless charging too.
