South Korea has scrambled to launch fighter jets and helicopters to shoot down North Korean drones in its airspace.
Several drones from the North crossed the inter-Korean border and were detected in the South’s territory on Monday morning, its defence ministry said.It was not yet known if soldiers were successful in shooting the drones down.
At the time, South Korean military officials said the drone photographed a US missile defence system.In 2014, several suspected North Korean drones were found south of the border.A South Korean soldier checks a drone equipped with rifles during training towards its eastern waters last Friday, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
