Screen Rant can exclusively present a clip from the new Austrian sci-fi thriller Rubikon, which arrives in theaters and July 1 and is set to be available simultaneously On Demand. The new movie from IFC Films stars Julia Franz Richter, George Blagden , and Mark Ivanir as future space explorers caught in an impossible situation.
Directed by Leni Lauritsch and co-written by her and Jessica Lind, Rubikon takes place in the not-so-distant yet incredibly bleak future. Three decades from now, fatally toxic air pollution has rendered Earth uninhabitable. As untold millions perish and the poor choke on the atmosphere, the wealthy corporations hide behind protected biodomes.
As is clear from the theatrical poster shown below, Rubikon focuses heavily on crafting the mounting horror that Hannah and crew feel as the world begins to dissolve before their very eyes. While a work of science fiction, its premise is rooted in a very real environmental concern and one audiences should consider when investing in the plight of the Rubikon crew members.
Other recent releases from IFC Films include the psychological horror movie Watcher, starring Maika Monroe and Burn Gorman, as well as the artful and terrifying Finnish body horror film Hatching. Rubikon has a runtime of 110 minutes.Rubikon will release in theaters and On Demand July 1 through IFC Films.
