Spain has been hit by a drastic change in weather as weather maps and charts turn black with an extreme heat due to hit. Brits have been warned to stay indoors
Spain is bracing for a drastic change in weather as weather maps and charts turn black with an extreme heatwave set to hit. The latest charts show temperatures soaring to 44C across Iberia, with more extreme heat of up to 40C expected along the Costa del Sol from July 28 to 30.
The most affected areas will be the southern half and the north-eastern quadrant of the Spanish mainland, where it is expected that from Thursday 18 July "temperatures will exceed 38C reaching 40-42C in areas of the Guadiana, Tagus and Ebro valleys; and even 42-44C in the Guadalquivir valley", Aemet revealed.READ MORE: Mini-heatwave hopes raised as forecast hints at spectacular U-turn
It added: "From Monday 22nd onwards, the uncertainty of the meteorological situation increases, making it difficult to determine the end of this heatwave episode. With the current information, the most likely scenario would indicate a new rise in temperatures, which could last until mid-week."
