A brilliant idea!

It is a joint initiative with Queen's University Belfast's School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work , and will take place on Saturday, May 20.

Autistic kids will get to experience the sights and sounds of airport life. The event is at 6.30pm, with places limited and allocated on a first come basis.Organisers of the 'Autism in the air' event said: "Thinking of heading on your holidays soon? Do you have concerns for your autistic child/children using the airport and flying?

"We are hosting a free evening at George Best Belfast City Airport where you can experience the sights and sounds of airport life.Queen's University lecturer in Behaviour Analysis in SSESW, Dr Nichola Booth, told Be: "Airport travel can be quite a daunting experience for many autistic individuals . "This event hopes to help families prep for a summer break by going through all of the requirements for air travel with an aim of helping reduce any anxiety that may be associated with air travel.

"The event would not be able to take place without the support of the staff at GBBCA, especially Mr Bill Doole, the airport duty manager. For further info or to reserve a place, contact Dr Nichola Booth via email: [email protected] all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our daily newsletter here.
