A bottle of olive oil has increased in price by 45%, now costing £6.23 .
Some non-food items have seen their prices fall. The price of 1,000L of Kerosene has come down by nearly half from £1,082.30 to £589.20 in the past year, the biggest price decrease over the period. There is some good news for active types, however, with the price of men's football boots decreasing by 15% from £92.27 to £78.09 and the cost of a man's branded sports sweatshirt coming down by 8% to £40.75 in the past year.The price changes described above compare the cost of items to where they were a year ago.The war in Ukraine, COVID, Brexit, and other supply chain pressures have all contributed to spiralling costs in recent years. Inflation peaked at 11.
The biggest price rise over that time was for a pack of cakes, rising by nearly three quarters from £1.25 to £2.18 in the past three years.
