A gag in Spider-Man: No Way Home could have a deeper connection to the MCU than you might have realised:
tried to contain the botched spell in a cube, with the view to reverse it, which would send all of the villains back to their original universes to be killed or imprisoned.
Knowing this, Peter — at Aunt May's encouragement — decides to try and help the villains rather than send them to their dooms, but Strange doesn't agree and the two fight over the cube in which the botched spell is contained. Doctor Strange pushed Peter's astral form out of his body, which should allow Strange to simply grab the cube from Peter. However, Peter is still able to control his physical form which many have chalked up to his 'Spidey senses' being as strong as Strange's magic — which could very well be true, and certainly part of what gives him the ability to stand up to Strange.
This could easily read as a gag. Yet, there could be something deeper at play: If Strange reversed the spell, it would send the villains back to their universes, and the would never go on to kill Aunt May, and Peter Parker would never have that defining moment in his life AKA an Absolute Point.
