Two starters will be out for tonight's game.
San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan works towards the basket against Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns during the second half of an NBA basketball game, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, in Minneapolis.SAN ANTONIO - The Spurs will be without three key players when they face Minnesota at 6 p.m. Sunday night.
Starting guard Devin Vassell will sit out his third game in a row with left knee soreness. The Spurs also announced Sunday morning they downgraded Vassell's backup, Josh Richardson, from questionable to out with lower back tightness and starting forward Jeremy Sochan from available to out with flu-like symptoms.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said before Friday's win over Chicago no timeline has been set for Vassell's return. It's also uncertain how long Richardson and Sochan will be out. The good news on Sochan is he tested negative for COVID-19. Popovich praised Sochan after the Bulls game for his defense through the first six games of the season.
"He can guard all five positions," the coach said."He has got quick feet, he’s long, he enjoys it, he’s got a knack for it. So, he’s special in that way."Sunday's game is the second in a four-game homestand.
