A St. George man has been arrested for murdering his girlfriend, allegedly stabbing her multiple times early Wednesday morning in their shared apartment.
ST. GEORGE, Utah — A St. George man has been arrested for murdering his girlfriend, allegedly stabbing her multiple times early Wednesday morning in their shared residence.
Jonathan Cross, 32, is being charged with first degree murder in the death of his girlfriend Lisa Breinholt, 45, whose body was found by St. George Police after a caller reported the incident, saying that Cross confessed to the murder and was at the police department. Court documents report that the caller said that Brienholt and Cross had been in a relationship for several years, and that Cross told the caller he killed Lisa after a heated argument, at which point the caller told Cross to surrender to police.
Officers found Cross in the police department's parking lot shortly thereafter sitting in Breinholt's car and holding a knife, which he turned over to police before being questioned. According to court documents, he was taken to St. George Regional Hospital by ambulance after saying that he wanted to die, but is currently being held in jail without bail because of the violent nature of the crime.
