St. Johns County officials are asking residents, businesses and visitors to take safety measures to protect drinking water as well as safety measures with the increased potential for flooding and standing water.
Drinking contaminated water may cause illness. Residents and visitors are urged to listen to local announcements regarding the safety of the public water supply. If your public water system loses pressure, a “Boil Water Notice” will likely be issued for your area.
Road surfaces become obscured, and drivers can unknowingly steer into a deep body of water, such as a canal or pond. Children playing in contaminated standing water can become sick or be bitten by snakes or floating insects. Boil water before use, holding it at a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, washing, cooking, etc.; or
