CARNIVAL COMEBACK: Bristol’s St Paul’s Carnival is set to make a return this summer Over 100,000 people are expected to attend the first full carnival day since 2019 on Saturday, July 1 in the centre of Bristol’s St Pauls area. The event, which will have the theme ‘Learning from Legends,’ is making a return after the Covid pandemic of 2020 and 2021 saw the carnival move online. Last year, the full carnival was replaced by a music, arts, and community festival.

This year’s event will have the theme ‘Learning from Legends’ which will highlight the contribution of leading local figures This year marks 60 years since Bristol’s Bus Boycott when Hackett, along with a number of other leading campaigners such as Paul Stephenson, Owen Henry, Audley Evans and Prince Brown spearheaded a months’ long boycott of the Bristol Omnibus Company aimed at challenging its systemic racial discrimination in recruitment.
