In 1983 Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visited California. Aside from meeting former President Ronald Reagan, on the list of people to meet was also Andrew Messing: a Stanford University sophomore.
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown is also remembering Queen Elizabeth II. During her visit to California, she made a trip to Sacramento. Brown was California State Assembly Speaker then.Brown remembers the queen's sense of humor.
"I had said to her that there are 80 members and so she turned to me and said, 'Which ones are the members?' I said, 'The ones standing.' She said, 'They are all standing,'" Brown said.
