The impressive Star Wars Galaxies Restoration fan project has unveiled a brand new update that will introduce new missions, bug fixes, and the iconic Episode III planet Mustafar years after the original MMO was shut down.
A Star Wars Galaxies fan restoration project is getting a major update later this week, complete with an impressive recreation of the infamous volcanic world Mustafar along with a selection of new content. Star Wars Galaxies was a massively multiplayer online game set in the iconic galaxy far, far away that allowed fans all over the world to interact with each other and take on the roles of Jedi, smugglers, bounty hunters, and soldiers in service to either the Rebellion or Empire.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In the years since Star Wars Galaxies was taken offline, many fans have made efforts to emulate its gameplay with passion projects like SWGEmu and Project SWG - efforts that were made all the easier after a former Sony Online Entertainment employee leaked a copy of Star Wars Galaxies’ 2010 production release source code.
Star Wars Galaxies Restoration Update Also Adds New Alien Species More updates to Star Wars Galaxies Restoration will be released during the rest of 2022 and beyond, as the developers have also posted a full Project Roadmap.
The old Star Wars Galaxies gave players what is likely the closest experience to living as an ordinary citizen in the Star Wars universe, and SWG Restoration looks to refine this MMO environment with new features and content. Users will be able to travel to the perilous Mustafar along with the other available planets in Star Wars Galaxies Restoration’s 1.0 update once it launches on September 17.
