Joel Hanley has proved to be a perfect seventh defenseman, able to come in and out of the lineup seamlessly. Colin Miller was an offseason addition signed to a two-year contract. Harley was the offensively gifted prospect who is supposed to take the next step this season. “It feels like a fresh start,” Lundkvist said. “New York is a fantastic organization; now I’m happy to be here. Last year was a good learning year, I learned a lot from it. Maybe didn’t have my best year of my career, but now I’m here, really excited, really looking forward for the next couple weeks and what this year has to bring.”
“Part of it will be special teams, but part of it’s going to be how they fit with us and how they defend,” DeBoer said. “Can they help us offensively but still be on the right side of it defensively? All those things.”
