A new report has found at least 67,000 homes could be built on State-owned land.It says land in Cork, Dublin, Limerick, Galway and Waterford could be used for affordable homes, nearly 10,000 which could be built in the next decade.The sites include a property at Leopardstown Racecourse in Dublin, Gas Networks Ireland land in Limerick, landbanks at Galway Harbour and the ESB in Cork City.
Five regional centres are also recommended for development in Sligo, Letterkenny, Dundalk, Drogheda and Athlone.However, it says there are still obstacles to unlocking state land for housing.
