Breaking news this morning

A busy Nottingham road was closed off by police after a collision involving a car and an e-scooter. Carlton Road was closed in both directions near Swains Avenue on the morning of Wednesday, August 3.

Police said they were called to the road at around 6.55am following the crash. A 41-year-old man was injured but they are not believed to be life-threatening. The road reopened at around 8.45am. Sergeant Steve Waft, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Emergency services were called to Carlton Road, Carlton, at around 6.55am today following reports of a collision between a car and an e-scooter.

“A 41-year-old man sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening following the incident. The road was closed in both directions for around an hour and a half but has since now been reopened. If anyone saw what happened or has any information that could assist us with our enquiries, we’d ask that they call 101, quoting incident 85 of 3 August 2022.”In a post on Twitter earlier in the morning, Nottingham Travelwise urged motorists to find an alternative route.

Nottingham City Transport said its Lilac services were diverted as a result. "Lilac 25, 26, 27 are delayed and diverted because of an incident on Carlton Road," its website read. "Between Porchester Road and Carlton Hill shops, buses are diverting both ways via Cardale Road, Watson Avenue and Daleview Road." Nottinghamshire Police have been approached for more information.
