We’re always on the hunt for new interpretations of zero-waste fashion, and STEM has caught our attention. ♻️ Discover their made-to-order, responsibly produced fringed pieces in our latest blog: zerowastefashion sustainablefashion scandinavianfashion
Their made-to-order signature fringe pieces in a beautiful range of colours are what capsule, but not boring wardrobe should include - while also paving the way for more transparent and responsible production.
Through a unique, dishevelled patchwork-style technique STEM applies to their designs, the style is very distinct and therefore unforgettable among what we could describes as “sustainable, but dull”, which sadly is often the case with zero-waste clothing. STEM’s asymmetrical fringing is a “a direct result of loosely-woven areas connecting the pattern pieces” and can be found on both shirts and trousers, giving them a subtle cowboy look without being too over the top.
What’s particularly admirable about STEM is the lengths they go to in order to display total transparency to the consumer. Each garment they sell can be traced, from thread to button, with a description of its origin, fabric used and sustainability factor. Emphasis is placed on using absolutely all of the cotton scraps, reducing the usual cut-off waste that can be as much as 25% of the fabric , as well as eliminating overproduction through a pre-order system.
We’re very excited to host the founder Sarah in an Instagram takeover and learn more about the brand - tune in via @nordicstylemag on Monday 25th of October, 10 AM CET.
