Stephen Bradley believes Robbie Keane can be a success in his first full management role - and he hopes he doesn't meet Keane's Maccabi Tel Aviv in Europe this year
Stephen Bradley isn’t surprised that Robbie Keane is diving into the deep end in his first permanent role as a manager.
Progress in Europe could lead to a meeting with an Irish side, with Dundalk, Derry City and St Patrick’s Athletic all getting favourable draws.Given how much time Keane has spent with the Hoops, taking part in and observing their training sessions, it’s a draw that Bradley isn’t too eager to land. He takes over from former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka, who lasted less than six months in the role.“Obviously he has been in and around the Ireland set-up, Leeds, Middlesbrough and he has been in with us a lot.
“He was working with UEFA in terms of going to games and tournaments, and I know he loved that aspect of it in terms of the learning he was getting from it.Bradley conceded that it wouldn’t be an easy introduction to management for Keane, but added that it could work in his favour.
