Ice creams and fruit salads are being replaced with warming and comforting desserts
We might have enjoyed a very welcome if unseasonable warm start to October but the temperatures have certainly changed. It definitely starts to feel a lot more like autumn with a slight nip in the air.
The same can be said for desserts. Ice creams and fruit salads are put to one side as we opt for warm puddings.A BBC Good Food recipe gives you the joy and satisfaction of a warm dessert and it takes just half-an-hour to prepare. The slow cooker sticky toffee pudding recipe is labelled as the 'ultimate comforting dessert'.
Once it has dissolved, turn up the heat and allow it to bubble for three minutes and then whisk in a pinch of salt. Pour a third of the sauce into a basin. Spoon the mixture into the basin and smooth the surface, leaving a 1cm gap from the top. Cover with a double layer of baking paper and foil, making a pleat in the middle so the pudding can expand. Secure with kitchen string.
