As much as $800 in tax rebates could be on the way for those in South Carolina who file their 2021 taxes by Feb. 15.
Taxpayers who filed their forms between Oct. 18 and Feb. 15 are expected to receive payments by March of this year, according to the state's Department of Revenue. The exact size of the rebate will vary based on one's tax liability for 2021.To qualify, residents must have an income tax liability for 2021 and meet the Feb. 15 filing deadline.
The rebates will match tax liabilities under $800 and ring in at $800 for liabilities of $800 or more. Any outstanding debt with South Carolina's tax department will be deducted from the final rebate amount received. South Carolina already rolled out $942 million worth of tax rebates to eligible recipients who filed their returns by Oct. 17 during the first round of 2022 individual income tax rebates, Live5News reported. Payments can take the form of deposits or paper checks, depending on one's arrangement with the department.South Carolina provides an online rebate tracker for anyone who wants to check the status of their payments.
Those who filed the first round by Oct. 17 should have already received their payments. Additional details about the program can be found on the Revenue Department's website.
