Manchester City were handed further injury blows on Tuesday night following their victory over Young Boys in the Champions League
Manchester City showed their class on Tuesday night as they qualified for the Champions League knockout stages with a 3-0 victory over Young Boys.
City were evidently too strong for their Swiss opponents on the night and were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to an Erling Haaland penalty and Phil Foden's wonderful solo effort. Haaland added gloss to the scoreline six minutes after the interval to see the Blues through to the next round. While the Norwegian had been a doubt for the game, Pep Guardiola will have been pleased to see him get through the European tie unscathed. However, news elsewhere was not so positive for John Stones who was forced off with an injury at the break.READ MORE: Haaland keeps Drogba promise with celebrationJohn Stones Injury: Unknown
What Guardiola said: "John felt it again. I feel so sorry for him. It's a big loss for us. John is so important for what he does. But recover and the season is long; he will be back stronger. I think he will be out for a while."What we know: Initially it was reported the centre-back had withdrawn from the team last night due to illness but after the final whistle it was confirmed by Guardiola that the defender was suffering with a back issue.
