A weather expert predicts a potential storm, possibly resembling the 'Beast from the East,' around January 25th in Ireland. The public is urged to enjoy the current sunny and mild weather while it lasts.
Ireland may face a storm later this month, with a weather expert predicting a shift in conditions for the worse next week. Following a bitterly cold start to the month that saw temperatures plunge to -8C in some areas, the country has enjoyed unseasonably warm weather this week, with average daytime temperatures hovering around the low teens.
While this pleasant weather is expected to continue for the rest of the week, the public is urged to seize the opportunity to enjoy it, as stormy conditions are on the horizon.Alan O'Reilly, the amateur meteorologist behind the popular Carlow Weather social media pages, issued a weather update on Tuesday stating that there is a risk of a stormy period around Saturday, January 25th, as high and low-pressure systems collide. Although he emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the event, he suggested there is a possibility of a storm resembling the Beast from the East hitting Ireland around January 25th. However, he reassured the public that such an event, if it were to occur, would be short-lived and urged everyone to make the most of the sunny conditions forecast for the next few days.In a video shared on his Carlow Weather Twitter page yesterday, O'Reilly provided a detailed forecast. He mentioned the mild temperatures experienced Tuesday, reaching 13.9C in Shannon, unusually high for January. He predicted temperatures between 8C and 12C for the rest of the week, with plenty of sunshine and good drying opportunities. He noted a potential for rain in western areas on Friday, but emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the weekend forecast. He highlighted the possibility of rain pushing in from the west on Saturday, potentially holding off until nighttime and bringing rain on Sunday morning.O'Reilly then turned his attention to next week, mentioning the risk of a stormy period around January 25th. He explained that current weather charts show a battleground situation with low pressure in the Atlantic and high pressure to the northeast, leading to a potential clash between cold air from the east and storms from the west. He stressed the uncertainty surrounding the situation and urged people not to worry about a Beast from the East event at this time, advising them to enjoy the sunny spells while they last
