While the weather warnings are no longer active an advisory remains in place until tonight
A weather expert has answered some questions about Storm Ciarán and predicted that the coming days will not see as much rainfall as previously forecast as the storm passes Ireland.
“Storm Ciarán is a very serious storm, but it is going to pass to the south of Ireland, we are not going to see the really damaging and destructive winds that parts of northwest France, into the Channel Islands and southern England are going to see. “That rain will clear tomorrow morning, and we will have sunny spells and scattered showers. The weather models don’t actually show a lot of rainfall for many areas for the next few days, but there is a risk of more rain on Saturday in southern areas.
Met Éireann also confirmed that there would be some sunny spells today but added that there will be some occasionally heavy showers in the west and southwest later
