Met Eireann have confirmed that Storm Darragh is on the way to Ireland and have issued a number of weather warnings for much of the country for wind and rain in the coming days
Storm Darragh is on the way as Met Eireann have confirmed that it will arrive in the country on Friday, with warnings remaining in place until Saturday morning.
In their forecast for Friday evening, the national forecaster warns: "Extremely windy or stormy for a time on Friday night with heavy rain, possibly wintry in some northern areas, giving way to clear spells and occasional showers, some of hail or sleet. "Turning colder with winds becoming fresh to strong and gusty northwest winds later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees with some frost and ice likely."Countrywide wind warning
There will be a Status Yellow wind warning in effect for the whole country from 3pm Friday until 3pm Saturday.Kerry, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal will be under a Status Orange wind warning from 10pm Friday evening until 9am Saturday morning.Meanwhile, a Status Yellow rain warning will come into effect in Clare, Connacht, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Longford, Louth, Meath and Westmeath for 24 hours from 10am Friday morning.
