Following the aftermath of Storm Éowyn, Ireland braces for the arrival of Storm Herminia, though experts predict its impact to be less severe. Met Eireann has issued multiple Status Yellow warnings for snow, rain, and strong winds across various regions.

Following the destructive impact of Storm Éowyn , which left many households across Ireland grappling with damage and power outages, a new weather system is on the horizon. Met Eireann, Ireland 's meteorological service, has issued several fresh weather warnings, all currently at a Status Yellow level. Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather, a well-known Irish weather forecasting service, has provided insight into the approaching storm, named Storm Herminia by the Spanish Met Service.

While acknowledging the storm's formation, O'Reilly reassured the public that the worst of the storm will remain offshore, significantly weaker than Éowyn. However, he warned of strong gusts, particularly in southern regions, and potential impacts on ferry sailings due to large seas south of Ireland. O'Reilly urged the public not to be overly alarmed by media hype, reminding them to rely on credible sources of information. He emphasized that the worst of the storm will stay out at sea. Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow snow and ice warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, valid from 8 PM on Saturday, January 25th, until 9 AM on Sunday, January 26th. This warning anticipates scattered snow showers becoming isolated overnight with icy stretches. Additionally, a Status Yellow rain warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, and Waterford from 5 AM on Sunday, January 26th, until 5 PM on the same day. This warning highlights the potential for heavy downpours leading to localized flooding. Finally, three Status Yellow wind warnings are active across various parts of Ireland. One affects Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Munster, Galway, Mayo, and Sligo from 6 AM on Sunday, January 26th, until 6 PM on the same day, while another covers Donegal, Leitrim, Louth, and Meath from 11 AM on Sunday, January 26th, until 6 PM on the same day. The final wind warning impacts Cork, Kerry, and Waterford, commencing at 11 PM on Sunday, January 26th, and lasting until 6 AM on Monday, January 27th. All three wind warnings anticipate strong and gusty winds, with potential for further damage to already weakened structures and trees, and hazardous traveling conditions.
