Ireland is bracing for another storm, Herminia, just days after Storm Eowyn wreaked havoc across the country. Strong winds and heavy rain are predicted for Sunday, potentially causing further disruption and power outages.

While Ireland continues to recover from the widespread devastation caused by Storm Eowyn , which unleashed record-breaking gusts of up to 183km/h on Friday night, a weather expert has issued a warning of more stormy conditions on the horizon. Storm Eowyn left over 800,000 homes and businesses without power, forced schools and colleges to close, and brought public transport to a standstill.

The clean-up continues across the country as a new storm, named Herminia, is set to make landfall on Sunday. Alan O'Reilly, a meteorologist known for his popular Carlow Weather social media account, has warned that strong gusts along the eastern coast on Sunday could disrupt operations at Dublin Airport. He cautioned that wind speeds exceeding 100kmh along the south and east coastlines could lead to power outages and travel disruptions. 'A very wet and windy Sunday ahead for all which could bring some more power outages. Not near as strong as Éowyn but as the South and East escaped the worst of Éowyn it may feel close to how it was Friday near South and East coasts on Sunday,' O'Reilly posted on Saturday evening. Met Eireann, Ireland's national meteorological service, has issued a number of Status Yellow weather warnings for Sunday as Storm Herminia approaches. Wind warnings are in effect for various regions across the country, with some areas facing warnings for both wind and rain. The national forecaster predicts a wet and windy Sunday with strong to near gale force southeasterly winds developing in the morning, potentially reaching gale force along exposed coasts. Rain in the southwest will spread northeastwards throughout the day, bringing the possibility of localized flooding, particularly in southern areas. As the rain clears in the evening, sunny spells and scattered showers are expected, with a chance of thunderstorms. Winds are forecast to veer southerly and ease to moderate to fresh as the rain departs, with temperatures ranging from 6C to 10C generally, cooler in the northwest
