Ellie Simmonds has shared how ‘incredible’ it feels to have received support from the dwarfism community around the world following her debut on Strictly Come Dancing 2022 last week ❤️️ 💃
Last week, the five-time Paralympic gold medal winner took to the dancefloor with her professional dance partnerEllie, 27, is the first person with dwarfism to ever compete on the BBC programme, previously describing making history on the show as a ‘real honour’.ahead of tonight’s second week, the swimmer opened up about the support she’s received from around the world, from those within the dwarfism community and from people with other disabilities.
‘From Britain to America to Australia, not just within the dwarfism community, but so many other disabled people all around the world have messaged saying they watched our dance on Saturday and were blown away by it.’Ellie emphasised how much the support has meant to her, especially hearing that viewers were ‘blown away’ by her and Nikita’s first routine.
‘The whole community’s out there, and to hear their feedback, that they were absolutely blown away, it’s just been amazing the response that we’ve had. And the support and love as well, it’s so nice, it makes you feel so loved and joyous and things. So it’s been really really nice the love that we’ve received.’
