Has Logan’s death revealed new depths in his children, or have they always been like this?
We begin with Logan , on a green screen, shilling Waystar’s new real estate brand Living+, which gives this episode its name. His words are certainly impassioned, though his tone is somewhat lacking. “Could you sound more excited when you say the word ‘excited’?”, an off-camera director asks. Inevitably, Logan erupts, calling the crew as useless as his “idiot kids”.
After a rocky start to the season, Shiv has emerged as the most interesting character, as impossible to pin down as her high-low, consistently unflattering, but somehow irresistible wardrobe. Her decision this episode, one she fumbles, is between being Matsson’s “girl on the inside” or going all in with her brothers. This could be a powerful position, albeit not one she reached by her own volition, and it leads her to strange places.
Tom’s admission, though perhaps it’s an explanation, of his feelings is not immediately easy to parse . He likes nice watches, and his career, but also likes Shiv, and can accept when he is sometimes compartmentalised. By the episode’s close, they have decided to become a partnership: Shiv has been cornered, and Tom simply finds strategy sexy.
