The deal “should be a foundation for even greater co-operation in the months ahead”, Mr Sunak said, adding: “When it comes to migration I do think that the absolute priority that the British people have right now, as do I, is to grip illegal migration. Mrs Braverman acknowledged “there are no quick fixes” to the migrant crisis but says the deal will “ensure UK and French officers are working hand in hand to stop the people smugglers”.
