Nissan driver Katsumasa Chiyo doesn't regret the first-lap incident with Honda's Tomoki Nojiri that cost him a shot at the 2022 SuperGT title.

On the opening lap Chiyo came under pressure from the ARTA Honda of Nojiri and, as the two-time Super Formula champion tried to go around the outside of the Nissan into Turn 5, the two drivers made contact with Nojiri being turned around.

Asked how he would sum up the 2022 season, Chiyo told Motorsport.com: “Disappointed. I think we tried everything we could. Just the incident made the race a bit difficult, but I have no regrets because we have to win the championship and we had to pass the #12 car. The #3 NDDP car subsequently emerged as the benchmark within the NISMO contingent and had the upper hand over the historically-superior #23 machine for majority of the season, scoring victory in the first Suzuka race in May and again at Sugo in September.
