Astronomy Ireland has urged people to get out and see the Supermoon next week, especially on Tuesday.
A rare Supermoon, known as a 'Sturgeon Moon', will be visible to skywatchers around Ireland next week.
Tuesday night, August 1, is expected to be the best night to view the Supermoon with the moon rising at 10pm. However, Monday will be just as good with the moon rising at 9.30pm and Wednesday is nearly as good with the Moon rising at 10.20pm.It marks the second in a series of four Supermoons set to grace the night sky in 2023, with another to come later in August and a fourth in September.
"The best time to watch is at Moon rise, which is the same time the Sun sets, when a further effect, called 'The Moon Illusion' kicks in which can make the Moon 'look' even bigger to the human eye/brain combination.
