Friday, ending days of speculation about the 73-year-old justice’s health after the court had declined to provide updates earlier in the week.... [+]A Supreme Court spokesperson said only that Thomas was discharged from the hospital Friday morning, but did not give any other information.Sunday that Thomas was hospitalized on March 18 with an infection after experiencing “flu-like symptoms,” which it clarified was not Covid-19.
The court said at the time Thomas’ “symptoms are abating” and “he expects to be released from the hospital in a day or two,” leading to speculation about Thomas’ health after the court failed to release any updates in the following days. Thomas was not present for any of the court’s oral arguments that took place this week, but the court said he would still help decide the cases going off of hearing transcripts and court briefs.
The court declined to comment on Wednesday about whether or not Thomas was still hospitalized, and the only update on his health came from Justice Stephen Breyer, who told gossip outlet
