The family of Pat Finucane has said the UK Supreme Court has “vindicated” his wife and family in their “relentless campaign” for justice, after it ruled there hadn't been a valid inquiry into his death

Finucane, a 39-year-old human rights solicitor, was shot dead in front of his three children and wife Geraldine, who was also injured, on 12 February 1989.
The basis on which it had been suggested that this was a decision taken in the public interest was spurious, the appellant claims. Moreover, the process of consultation and discussions was entirely cosmetic. The outcome had been predetermined. The family has thanked the Supreme Court Justices for their “careful and respectful” consideration of the case.
