The first lady of country music in Ireland recalled her diagnosis, saying it was a terrible time in her life and she found it to be frightening.

Susan told RSVP Country: "I had tests in September and they were clear from cancer. I have to go back every 12 months for check ups for at least the next four years to make sure that it hasn’t come back. "I’m back to normal, thank God, and I’m going to get on with my life. I’m just back from a cruise to the Caribbean. I’ve cut back on work a lot."

"It’s great to have them, they take the burden off me on stage. My other granddaughter Emma is doing her A-levels this year and Josh is studying history in university.He has also struggled with his health in recent years. How is he now? "He has a heart problem and he has a defibrillator fitted. He runs quite a bit and he tries to stay fit."She said: "It feels like a minute ago since I started, honest to God. The years just fly by.
