Texas family executed over suspected killer's failed job promotion, records show

The case went unsolved for more than eight years — until Tuesday, when Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced his investigators had identified a suspect who was subsequently arrested in San Francisco on Sept. 11 after arriving in the U.S. on a flight from China. Cypress' 77429 zip code is one of the most affluent in Harris County, with nearly half of the people living there making more than $100,000 a year. But Cypress has a seedier side hidden behind its pristine cul-de-sac neighborhoods and school houses.
Lu wanted to transfer to the company's research and development section and asked Sun for a recommendation. The documents show Lu heard Sun didn't provide that recommendation, prompting Lu to call Sun to ask him why he hadn't. Sun denied the accusation and said he had recommended him, the records state.
