A man has now been charged
Thomas Edwards is accused of trying to take the girl into an address after approaching her at park in Leyland on Saturday. Police say they were called Seven Stars Road at around 11.40am and arrested a man as the scene.
Edwards, of Seven Stars Road, has now been charged in connection with the incident. The 29-year-old appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on Monday and was bailed ahead of his next appearance.A Lancashire Constabulary spokesperson said: "We were called around 11.40am on Saturday to a report of an incident in Seven Stars Road. It was alleged a man had approached an eight-year-old girl in a park close to Fox Lane and attempted to take her inside an address.
"Police attended and later arrested a man at the scene. Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Thomas Edwards, 29, of Seven Stars Road, Leyland, was charged with taking a child so as to remove her from a person having lawful control."
