Martin tells Business Post government working to ‘shift the balance’ in rental market
Tánaiste Micheál Martin has said the tax treatment of small landlords compared to large professional investors was “not fair” and that the government was drawing up plans to “shift the balance” to stop them fleeing the market.
Speaking exclusively to the Business Post in New York on Friday, Martin said measures in the next budget will incentivise small landlords to stay in the rental market and encourage new entrants to the sector.
