The Irish Mirror has established that a man aged in his 40s, who tragically died when the car plunged into the canal in Co Kildare last night, had at the time just delivered food to a nearby mobile home close to the water.
A takeaway driver has died after the car he was driving is suspected to have skidded into water when he reversed - following a delivery.
As he began to leave the area, the car is believed to have accidentally skidded down into the canal when he reversed. Emergency services managed to pull the man from the water - but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to a fatal road traffic incident Grangeclare West, Kilmeague, Co. Kildare, yesterday evening, Sunday 22nd December 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 8pm when it is believed a car entered the Grand Canal at the above location.
