This will be a big help to thousands
Tanaiste Micheal Martin has confirmed that the public can expect one-off cash bonuses in the upcoming budget.
There were three this year as part of the government's spring cost of living package - a social welfare double payment, an extra €100 with Child Benefit and an additional €100 per child with the Back to School Allowance. It has now been confirmed that social welfare recipients can expect further boosts in the coming year.
He said their focus will be similar to last year, with one-off measures, like last year’s energy credit, on the table in October but there will be €1.1 billion for tax cuts. “If you look at last year we did quite an extensive package, both in the Budget and in once-off measures. The impact combined was quite dramatic in terms of the social welfare payments and the tax measures.
