Nearly 2,000 beds for Ukrainian refugees are being created in Dublin, Laois, Limerick, Kildare and Cork

Speaking in Boston, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said he's not expecting major protests outside the centres.

"Generally speaking when it's come to providing welcome centres or residential centres for Ukrainians we haven't seen a large amount of protest or difficulties with that," he said. "Sadly the difficulties that have arisen in terms of protests have been more often connected to people seeking International Protection rather than those coming from Ukraine," he added.
