Taoiseach Simon Harris has stated that the government will run its full term, despite speculation about a potential November election. He also confirmed plans to open Thornton Hall for asylum seekers and announced further changes to support systems for those seeking asylum.
Taoiseach Simon Harris has refused to confirm whether the election will be held in 2024 or 2025 as he continuously stated that the government will run its “full term”.

Asked by the Irish Mirror whether the election would be in 2024 or 2025, Mr Harris did not directly answer the question and stated that the Government will run “full term”.
He continued: “We know that access to early childhood education can be absolutely fundamental in making sure that every child can get off to a good start in life, we know that it can be absolutely fundamental in terms of bridging inequality. I think what we need to do now is look at what a roadmap over the course of the lifetime of the next government would look like in terms of delivering a publicly-funded, affordable early childhood education and childcare model.
