The Women’s Center in Tarrant County has been a source of support and comfort for years. The center celebrated its 25th Annual Victory Over Violence Walk/Run on April 9 — an event that helps to meet the community’s needs.
Since 1979, The Women's Center has served the community of Tarrant County with a mission to address violence, crisis and poverty
“They cover just about anything that someone would need if they walk through those doors,” said Jackson-McDougle. “So, having a place like The Women’s Center in the community is not only important but also something that brings hope to the ones who feel like no one cares. And not only that, they’re really active in trying to let people know they exist.”
But what her father didn’t count on was a group of young kids finding Jackson-McDougle before it was too late. It’s a moment she says she’ll never forget. “He attacked her right outside of The Women’s Center and a counselor came running out and provided her services,” she said.
