The State collected €12 billion in taxes in the first two months of the year, new figures from the Department of Finance show.
The increase was driven by income tax, excise and VAT receipts.
Excise duty receipts of €400 million were collected in February, up by €100 million on the same month last year.Minister for Finance, Michael McGrath said growth in tax revenues across the first two months of the year is broadly consistent with the Government's forecast on Budget day. "The coming months will provide a firmer indication of the pattern of tax receipts across the year," he said.
