With Taylor Swift in Ireland as part of her Eras Tour, it seems logical one of the biggest music stars on the planet would be headlining the greatest festival in the world, Glastonbury - so why isn’t she?
Taylor Swift was supposed to headline Glastonbury in 2020 but the event was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic. And so fans were sure she would appear this year, especially as she’s so close.
There was a gap in her schedule for the UK leg of Eras, which they thought may coincide with potential dates for the greatest festival in the world - Glastonbury.
Organiser Emily Eavis, daughter of the festival’s founder Michael Eavis, spoke about it in 2022 when the event returned, telling Variety: "I think we’ve got Taylor on board next time she’s doing some touring." Last year, she also announced that two of the headliners at the 2024 extravaganza would be women and one had already signed on the dotted line, which only added to the excitement of Taylor’s fans who took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their elation.
A third then weighed in with: "Looking at the dates for 2024... If next years ~Glastonbury is 21st -24th June 2024, Taylor Swift could headline on Sunday 23/06/2024! #Glasto #ErasTour Emily did say there’s female headliners booked!" A fourth simply stated: "Taylor Swift absolutely nailed on Glasto headliner then next year."
