The developers reply to questions put by Perthshire politicians and the community council makes a plea for campaigners to give it a rest and 'step back' over what's happening in Kenmore around Taymouth Castle.
Taymouth Castle’s development into a luxury guest community has set off squabbles, accusations and tribalism with the ripple effects going way beyond Loch Tay.
The company has also confirmed its intention to re-open local facilities like the shop and keep access to the beach. Rob Jamieson, admin of Protect Loch Tay recently wrote of infighting undermining the group’s solidarity. The KDCC put in the boot to PLT, asking it to “step back and leave it alone”, claiming the online group was “undemocratic, misinformed and completely unrepresentative of the wishes of local folk”.
“Kenmore village was largely all holiday lets but now we have real residents again, people who will work here and use the bars and restaurants and shops when all the holidaymakers have gone home. The future looks much brighter and more sustainable than before.” “The developers are saving our village shop from closure, created new community facilities, and are working with our community council to develop more plans for the revitalisation of the area.
John Swinney, MSP for Perthshire North, and Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire received a written reply to their correspondence to Discovery Land Company on a number of key points arising from the July 27 public meeting in Aberfeldy.
