From next year on, Tayto Park will be officially known as Emerald Park, and other elements of the park and zoo will be updated to reflect this.

, the theme park and zoo based in Co. Meath have had to come up with a new name, and that name has officially been selected.Announcing the name change this morning, the park’s general manager Charles Coyle said that they decided on the new moniker following a public consultation.

He said: “When we announced that the name of the Park would change, we were inundated with ideas from the public and it was wonderful to see such enthusiasm. We commissioned a piece of research and Emerald Park was the clear favourite. We will start next year with a new name and new brand throughout the Park.”

The group’s marketing manager Niamh Reynolds meanwhile said: “We made the strategic decision to not look for a brand title sponsor but rather create a new brand – Emerald Park which we hope will be supported next year by a number of strategic brand partners from various sectors – FMCG, energy, transport to name a few. We are actively meeting brand teams at present and we are very confident we will have the right partners in place for 2023.

As well as a name change, the park was given a budget of €30 million to invest in some changes. This summer “ground was broken” on two new steel rollercoasters, and it’s understood that the zoo will see some “new arrivals” next year. Tayto Park first opened in 2010 and has since become a very popular tourist destination. It boasts the Cú Chulainn, which is Ireland’s first and only wooden rollercoaster.By Jody Coffey‘This life is different’ – Saoirse Ruane’s mum shares positive updatePeople believe Gypsy Rose Blanchard never should’ve been sent to prison
