Schools are being forced to re-advertise teaching jobs because they get so few applicants.

Scoil Áine Naofa Principal Connor Reilly said he would normally have all positions filled by the end of July - but this year he is struggling.“In a normal year, you could have 100 applications for a few mainstream, fixed-term positions,” Mr Reilly told“Whereas this year, only a few weeks ago I had to re-advertise five positions and I got seven applications.

Mr Reilly described his school as having a “good location” in Lucan and in previous years they would have had a “huge number" of applicants from recent graduates from the nearby Maynooth University.
