Teachers voice concern over new 'online' marking system for Leaving and Junior Certificate exams
Teachers have voiced their concern over a new "online" marking system which will see State exams corrected on computers.
The SEC said: “When the scripts are returned to SEC these will be scanned and will become an electronic script. “On the wider issue of state examination corrections, it is clear that the rates of pay provided are wholly inadequate and are resulting in severe difficulties in the recruitment of teachers marking examinations. One concerned teacher said: “It isn’t the system I have an issue with - it’s how late they left it.
The SEC insist that the new system is ready to use and have reassured teachers, parents and students that this change will have no negative effects. “There are many advantages to online marking both for the examiners and for the examination system as a whole.
