The British pair were expected to challenge for silverware but needed a last-minute slip from Australia to jump up into third
Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper backed up their world bronze in Doha with Olympic bronze in Paris
Harper – on her Olympic debut – and Mew Jensen were in fourth place going into the final dive of the morning and their score of 70.68 for their three-and-a-half pike somersault did not look enough. Mew Jensen and Harper still had three more dives to watch before the medal was confirmed – and when it was, the pair leapt and hugged their coaching staff. They now have an Olympic medal to match their bronze at last year’s World Championships.
